About The Position

Ascension Christian School is seeking an Early Learning Center Substitute Teacher to support children's spiritual, emotional, and developmental growth in a nurturing, Christ-centered classroom. This is an as-needed position, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The substitute may work with infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children, providing age-appropriate care, learning activities, and support for daily classroom routines.

Responsibilities

• Provide nurturing care to infants, including holding and rocking them throughout the day.
• Read stories to infants daily while holding them.
• Feed infants while holding them or one-on-one in a high chair, and talk with them during feeding and diapering.
• Play with infants on the floor and provide learning aids, discussing them with the infants.
• Encourage infants to develop physical skills such as sitting, rolling over, scooting, crawling, standing, and walking in accordance with developmental guidelines.
• Follow appropriate sanitary practices, including washing one's own hands and infants' hands.
• Read to toddlers daily, individually or in small groups.
• Follow appropriate sanitation practices when assisting toddlers with bathroom use or diapering, including helping them wash their hands.
• Talk with children during meals and feeding.
• Help children develop independence in activities such as dressing and eating.
• Engage toddlers in games that promote language and gross motor skills.
• Introduce toddlers to drawing and play activities.
• Follow the curriculum when teaching preschool-age children.
• Read to preschool children in small groups to support the curriculum.
• Implement daily lesson plans as developed.
• Use activity centers appropriately.
• Engage preschool children in conversation individually and in group settings.
• Follow appropriate sanitation practices when assisting preschool children with bathroom use, including helping them wash their hands.
