About The Position

Beacon Hill Schools is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The custodian helps keep classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas sanitary and orderly, and supports the school community across the organization’s locations in Watkinsville, Athens, and Bogart, Georgia. The role requires regular travel between campuses, sometimes on short notice, and collaboration with school leadership and the corporate team to align custodial operations with program needs and schedules. The schedule is approximately 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. The position includes routine cleaning and light maintenance, facility safety and security tasks, event-related furniture setup, and seasonal or deep-cleaning projects. The successful candidate will reflect Beacon Hill Schools’ mission and values in workplace interactions and decisions.

Requirements

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks, including standing, bending, and reaching.
Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism.
Must pass background checks as required by state and school policies.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between locations regularly.

Nice To Haves

Prior custodial or janitorial experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Sweep, mop, vacuum, and/or scrub floors in classrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.
Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and fixtures, and replenish restroom supplies.
Wipe down desks, tables, counters, door handles, and other surfaces.
Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
Monitor and restock cleaning and restroom supplies as needed.
Follow health and safety standards, school policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Promptly report safety concerns, needed repairs, or hazards.
Secure doors, windows, and the facility when required.
Set up or remove furniture for school events or classroom changes.
Assist with seasonal or deep-cleaning projects, such as carpet and window cleaning.
Perform other cleaning or light maintenance tasks as assigned.
Provide custodial support at any school location as needed and travel between locations regularly or on short notice.
Work with school leadership and the corporate team to align custodial operations with program needs and schedules.
Reflect Beacon Hill Schools’ mission and values in interactions and decisions.
