About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, with approximately 17,000 employees. The Division of Child and Family Well-Being (DCFW) brings together complementary NC Department of Health and Human services to support North Carolina’s children growing up safe, healthy, and thriving in nurturing and resilient families and communities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of professional developmental disability or infant and child mental health experience preferably including administrative/supervisor experience.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of professional developmental disability or infant and child mental health experience, preferably including one year of administrative experience.
  • OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with managing, hiring, training, and supervising staff that provide services to with young children who have developmental disabilities or delays.
  • Experience working with children 0–5 and their families, including children with developmental delays.
  • Proven ability to integrate the family into the intervention process and provide coaching on how the parent or other caregiver can facilitate and support skill development on an ongoing basis using the child’s everyday routines.
  • Must possess a degree from an accredited university that allows certification as an Infant-Toddler Family Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, hire, train, and supervise staff that provide services to young children who have developmental disabilities or delays.
  • Integrate the family into the intervention process and provide coaching on how the parent or other caregiver can facilitate and support skill development on an ongoing basis using the child’s everyday routines.
  • Participate in activities that are developmentally appropriate to infants and toddlers.
  • Get up and down from the floor in clinic and family home environments.
  • Lift and carry young children.
  • Drive a car to home visits within the 6-county catchment area.
