About The Position

This position is for an Early Childhood IEP/SPED Teacher at Anthony On Track Prek. The role involves developing, presenting, and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for student initials and annual reviews in accordance with IDEA. The teacher will also provide instructional support and consultation to regular education teachers to facilitate student success in achieving IEP goals. The application process requires three professional reference letters, and current district employees must include a letter from their current supervisor.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Early Childhood or Special Education
NM New Mexico Teaching License; Early Childhood Education, Birth-Grade Three or Special Education
Ability to use multiple virtual instructional platforms.
Proficient in Google Suites
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites
Experience with online meeting platforms such as Google Meets, Zoom, MS Teams
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
Frequently required to sit and climb or balance.
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Maintains emotional control under stress.

Nice To Haves

New Mexico Special Education License, preferred

Responsibilities

Develop, present, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for student initials and annual reviews in accordance with IDEA.
Provide instructional support and consultation to regular education teachers to facilitate student success in achieving IEP goals.
Comply with the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession; uphold and enforce rules, administrative directives, regulations, GISD school board policies, as well as local, state and federal regulations.
Follow National Association for the Education of Young Children’s Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood Programs serving children from birth through eight years old.
Adhere to the New Mexico Pre-K Program Standards, the PreK Curriculum Policy Brief, the PreK Lesson Plan Form, the NM PreK Essential Indicators with Rubrics, and the Statement of Assurances signed by the district Superintendent.
Create and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for student initials and annual reviews in compliance with IDEA.
Collaborate with parents, teachers, and specialists to gather input and ensure comprehensive support for students.
Define measurable and achievable goals for each student, including short-term objectives.
Identify and coordinate special education services, related services, and necessary accommodations/modifications.
Establish and maintain progress monitoring systems to track student achievement of IEP goals.
Facilitate IEP meetings, review and finalize plans, and ensure all team members are informed and in agreement.
Offer instructional support, resources, and regular consultations to general education teachers to help them support students in achieving their IEP goals.
Provide regular updates on student progress and schedule periodic reviews and revisions of IEPs as needed.
Implement an instructional program which meets the total development needs of children based on IEP goals (e.g. physical, cognitive, social, and emotional needs) and includes health care, nutrition, safety, and multicultural sensitivity.
Assist in planning and implementing parent training and events such as “Literacy Night”, “Family Math Night”, “Science Night”, etc.
Attend scheduled parent meetings, staff meetings, professional development training, etc.
Locate or develop appropriate learning materials.
Supervise students while on site or on field trip(s).
Display a desire and enthusiasm for working with young children.
Use time effectively; be punctual and have good attendance.
Work with all children and their exceptionalities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
