About The Position

Responsible for overseeing shift operations of the warehouse and supervision of the workforce. This is considered a skilled position requiring significant judgment. This is considered light to heavy work according to the Department of Labor Weight Classifications with primary functions being light in nature. The work environment includes refrigerated and freezer temperatures varying from 35° to -8° and ambient, as well as dry warehouse temperatures and ambient outside temperatures in the dry warehouse. It is a busy and noisy warehouse environment with interaction with powered industrial equipment, also office conditions (climate controlled).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Good verbal communication, interpersonal, supervisory, and leadership qualities.
  • Good writing skills in documentation and attention to detail.
  • Excellent knowledge of warehouse operations.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements exerting 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
  • Frequent to constant listening, talking, hearing, walking, standing, handling, seeing, bending, lifting of product, dealing with and influencing people.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree preferred.
  • 2 years warehouse assistant supervisory or trainer experience preferred.
  • 2-3 years warehouse operations and distribution experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all aspects of the shift including but not limited to: job rotation, door assignments, re-loads, overflow trucks, loading, receiving, and picking issues.
  • Reviewing work throughout the shift and at completion to ensure it has been performed properly.
  • Maintaining warehouse sanitation and housekeeping standards and practices.
  • Enforcing safety rules, regulations, and company policies.
  • Ensuring that inbound and outbound product flow meets quality standards.
  • Informing designated employees and departments of items loaded and problems encountered.
  • Addressing damaged product as needed.
  • Monitoring assigned team selection numbers, communicating with employees not meeting productivity and quality standards, and providing mentoring or additional training as needed.
  • Conducting monthly safety meetings and monitoring participation.
  • Creating a positive work atmosphere for employees.
  • Collaborating with designated employees and management to solve work-related problems.
  • Administering quality audit and control programs to ensure production goals and rates are maintained and improved upon.
  • Ensuring that security measures and practices are implemented and complies with all pertinent regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining adequate staffing levels to ensure activities are performed effectively and to respond to fluctuating workloads.
  • Completing incident reports to give appropriate feedback to employees on the shift.
  • Working with the transportation department on dispatching and re-routing issues.
  • Assisting with administration and development of warehouse training and communication programs.
  • Participating in the hiring process by conducting interviews, reviewing credentials, and making recommendations for hiring or promotion decisions.
  • Attending departmental and company meetings.
  • Conducting shift meetings as needed.
  • Reporting to work when scheduled and on time.
  • Adhering to company policies and departmental guidelines.
  • Performing Fulfillment Associate tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Assigned to project work occasionally by management.
