About The Position

Mustang Cat is hiring a Dyno Technician to support engine testing operations in its Power Systems – Large Bore Shop in Houston, Texas. The role involves operating dynamometer systems and performing testing, troubleshooting, and evaluation of industrial natural gas and diesel engines up to 2,000 horsepower. The technician supports the full testing process, from engine preparation and test operation through post-test teardown and inspection, while maintaining test-cell equipment and following safety procedures and company standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Three to five years of experience operating, repairing, or testing industrial natural gas or diesel engines.
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Technical training or coursework in diesel, mechanical, or electrical systems.
Experience operating dynamometer or engine-testing equipment.
Background in large-bore engines or power-generation systems.
Familiarity with engine diagnostics and data acquisition systems.

Responsibilities

Operate dynamometer systems to test industrial natural gas and diesel engines up to 2,000 horsepower.
Monitor and interpret engine performance data, including pressure, temperature, and torque.
Use engine and dyno data acquisition systems to record and analyze test results.
Prepare engines before testing and perform post-test teardown and inspection.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical engine systems.
Maintain and support test-cell equipment and related systems.
Follow technical procedures, schematics, and mechanical and electrical diagrams.
Complete testing safely and in accordance with company standards.
