Dump Truck Driver
About The Position
Achen-Gardner Construction, LLC is seeking a skilled and motivated Dump Truck Driver in the Tucson area. The driver must have experience operating a Super 16 and will transport materials to varied locations, both on-road and off-road. The position requires safe vehicle operation, regulatory compliance, accurate inspections and recordkeeping, coordination with project teams, and adherence to company safety procedures. Work takes place outdoors in Arizona’s climate and may involve travel to different job sites, occasional weekend or evening work, and excessive hours for short durations. Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug test.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Arizona Class B or Class A CDL in good standing.
- Valid DOT Medical Certification.
- Experience operating a Super 16.
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and materials-handling best practices.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Basic mechanical skills for minor truck maintenance.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Ability to read, understand, and navigate with paper and/or digital maps.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Ability to sit for long periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in Arizona’s climate.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
Nice To Haves
- At least 3 years of experience operating dump trucks (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a dump truck in a manner that reduces risk and liabilities.
- Ensure load weight complies with state and federal regulations.
- Perform and properly document pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure they are safe and legal.
- Maintain accurate records of trip details, including mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance reports, and hours worked.
- Communicate effectively and in a direct, friendly manner with project managers, equipment operators, and other team members to coordinate material transport and delivery schedules.
- Adhere to Achen-Gardner Construction’s safety policies and procedures.
- Perform basic truck maintenance when necessary.
- Navigate the dump truck to a wide variety of on-road and off-road locations using instructions, maps, or GPS.
- Properly wear and safely use PPE.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
