About The Position

The Heavy Cleaner (Primary position) is responsible for the cleanliness of all public areas and non-public areas according to casino standards. This role may also fill the EVS Shift Supervisor (Secondary position) when needed, assisting in managing the Environmental Services department on an assigned shift. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
High school diploma or its equivalency required.
Six (6) months of satisfactory experience as a Heavy Cleaner is required.
Must be familiar with proper use of all cleaning equipment and chemicals.
Knowledge in the operation of cleaning machines such as buffers, burnishers, carpet cleaning machines, escalator cleaning machines and other miscellaneous cleaning equipment.
Must possess excellent communication skills.
Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees, and customers.
Ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
Ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
The employee is also required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Must be able to work with various cleaning chemicals and agents.
Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.

Nice To Haves

Previous customer service experience preferred.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Previous housekeeping experience a plus.
Computer proficiency with office programs including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and scheduling software preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain the cleanliness of the casino, hotel lobby, spa/salon, back of house and restaurants, including the operation of cleaning machines such as buffers, burnishers, carpet cleaning machines, escalator cleaning machines and other miscellaneous cleaning equipment.
Carry out individual assignments as well as working with a group.
Work with various cleaning chemicals.
Assist in other projects as directed, including light cleaning tasks such as restroom and floor attendant duties.
Maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy.
Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicate in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner.
Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff.
Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment.
Attend all necessary meetings.
Oversee operations of Environmental Services including the cleaning of the casino, hotel lobby, spa/salon, public access areas, restaurants, and catering/banquet rooms on an assigned shift (as EVS Shift Supervisor).
Assist with instruction and training of EVS staff (as EVS Shift Supervisor).
Maintain exceedingly high standards of cleanliness and sanitation (as EVS Shift Supervisor).
Monitor areas to ensure proper appearance of facilities is maintained through use of checklists and visual inspections (as EVS Shift Supervisor).
Monitor inventory/supplies and recommend purchase of supplies to supervisor (as EVS Shift Supervisor).
