About The Position

Skillforce is hiring a Drywall Taper and Finisher for ongoing project work on a new multifamily student housing project in Charlottesville, Virginia. The role involves taping and finishing work in new student housing units, including producing smooth, paint-ready walls and ceilings. Pay is $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, based on drywall finishing experience. This is W-2 employment with weekly pay by direct deposit. Per diem is offered for traveling finishers. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a 7:00 AM start time. Overtime is available as the project requires. The opening is immediate.

Requirements

At least two years of drywall taping and finishing experience.
Must bring personal drywall finishing hand tools and personal protective equipment.
Ability to work through units independently and finish walls to a paint-ready standard.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Residential or commercial drywall finishing experience.

Responsibilities

Tape, mud, and sand drywall joints, inside corners, and fastener heads in new apartment units.
Install and finish corner bead so outside corners are straight and clean.
Apply finish coats and feather the edges to create a smooth, paint-ready surface.
Repair dings, cracks, and damaged areas found during unit walkthroughs and punch lists.
Inspect walls and ceilings under light and correct ridges, edges, and flashing before painting.
Coordinate with the superintendent, painters, and other trades so units close out on schedule.
Follow jobsite safety and dust control procedures and keep finished areas clean and protected.
