About The Position

As a Drum and Percussion Specialist, you will represent Guitar Center’s Drum Shop by providing exceptional customer service and driving Drum and Percussion sales. You will greet customers, understand their musical needs, recommend appropriate products, and address objections to help close sales. The role also involves maintaining product knowledge, merchandising and organizing the department, completing daily operational tasks, and engaging with the local drumming community and vendors. The position includes participation in company education and certification programs and vendor training, which may involve travel.

Requirements

• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong customer service orientation and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Drum and Percussion Equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Genuine interest and enthusiasm for drumming and percussion instruments.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in the Drum Department throughout their shopping experience.
• Understand customers’ musical needs and recommend suitable Drum and Percussion products.
• Promote and sell drum gear while working to meet or exceed sales goals.
• Maintain knowledge of the Drum and Percussion inventory, new products, and industry trends.
• Explain the features and benefits of percussion instruments to customers.
• Keep the Drum Department clean, organized, and merchandised according to company standards and planograms.
• Maintain accurate pricing and update displays.
• Complete daily operational tasks to keep the department ready for business.
• Monitor inventory levels and restock displays.
• Participate in onboarding, certification, ongoing education, and vendor training.
• Build relationships within the local drumming community and participate in external promotions.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with drum gear vendors and attend vendor-related events and trainings, potentially involving travel.
