About The Position

Coastline Academy is a people-first, technology-centric driver education company founded in 2017. It teaches students to become safe and confident drivers. In this role, you will use a company-provided vehicle to teach students the fundamentals of operating a car and advise them during behind-the-wheel lessons. Lessons are conducted in a Coastline car and recorded with a dashboard camera for safety.

The company provides paid training to help instructors obtain the state-required driving instructor certification. Training includes 30 hours of learning: 15 hours of at-home reading and modules, 12 hours of in-person behind-the-wheel training, and 3 hours of administrative tasks. You will also shadow three in-car lessons and complete three four-hour training sessions with a Certified Trainer. Lesson demand is highest in the afternoons and on weekends, and a typical day may include three two-hour lessons.

Requirements

• A genuine passion for helping people learn.
• Ability to remain calm in a learning environment.
• A valid state driver’s license in the state where you wish to work.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and reference check.
• At least 10 years of legal driving experience.
• A strong safety mindset and strong reasoning ability.
• Ability to give clear instruction, coach, and communicate effectively to others.
• Ability to focus for extended periods of time.
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods in a vehicle.
• Ability to see and hear during all weather conditions.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, touch, and feel.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Responsibilities

• Teach practical skills related to all aspects of driving.
• Provide instruction on the rules of the road.
• Help students develop confidence in their driving skills.
• Gain control of the vehicle during emergency situations.
• Document and report on students’ progress.
• Maintain timely communication with the supervisor and support team.
• Maintain professionalism with students and fellow team members.
• Attend team meetings for updates and ongoing development.
