About The Position

Ryder is hiring a NON-CDL Truck Driver in Edgewood, New York. The role delivers freight solo within a 250-mile radius of Edgewood, including the five boroughs, on local routes with daily home time. Drivers transport windows and doors in a 26-foot box truck and use a dolly and door cart. Trucks are described as well-maintained, safe, and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The position pays $26.50 per hour, with an advertised weekly amount of $1,400 or more. Drivers work 40–50 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a 5:00 a.m. dispatch start. Paid training is provided. A retention bonus pays $500 at 30 days, six months, one year, and 18 months. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Have at least six months of verifiable driving experience, with experience in like equipment if applying to operate a straight truck or box truck. Qualifying experience must be six months within the past three years, two years within the last five years, or five years within the last ten years.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Have a valid driver’s license.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a vehicle while complying with safety regulations, continuous training requirements, and customer service expectations.
Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
