About The Position

The Driver operates a Health System van or automobile to pick up and transport patients and clients throughout the metropolitan area and occasionally handles special deliveries. The role maintains records of driving assignments and daily transportation activity, and observes, documents, and reports significant or unusual patient behavior to a supervisor. The Driver performs routine vehicle care and, with approval, arranges local garage service or repairs as needed. Work involves driving in varying weather conditions and attending to mentally ill patients.

Requirements

• High school diploma; additional years of experience may be considered in place of the degree.
• Possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and throughout employment, sufficient to operate a Health System van or automobile.
• Applicants with three or more points on their driving record will not be considered; applicants with other adverse driving history, such as a suspension or DUI, may not be considered.
• Read, write, and speak English well enough to communicate effectively with patients and staff, locate destinations, follow transportation schedules, and keep daily transportation records.
• Able to drive in varying weather conditions and attend to mentally ill patients.
