About The Position

The Driver operates a Health System van or automobile to pick up and transport patients and clients, and occasionally to make special deliveries throughout the metropolitan area. The role maintains records of driving assignments and observes, documents, and reports significant or unusual patient behavior to a supervisor. The Driver performs routine care of the vehicle and, with approval, arranges for service and repairs at a local garage as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma; additional years of experience may be considered in place of the diploma.
• Possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and throughout tenure, sufficient to operate a Health System van or automobile.
• Applicants with three or more points on their driving record will not be considered; applicants with other adverse driving history, such as suspension or DUI, may not be considered.
• Read, write, and speak English well enough to communicate effectively with patients and staff, locate destinations, follow transportation schedules, and keep daily transportation records.
• Be able to drive in varying weather conditions and attend to mentally ill patients.
