About The Position

The Floating Hospital is a Federally Qualified Health Center and charity hospital serving people of all ages, regardless of identity, insurance status, or ability to pay. It is the largest provider to homeless families living in family shelters and domestic violence safe houses throughout New York City’s five boroughs. The Driver supports patient transportation and outreach by transporting clients to and from appointments, coordinating with the Transportation Manager and caseworkers, and maintaining vehicle and activity records.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Experience working with at-risk populations.
• Good communication skills.
• Valid New York State Commercial Driver’s License and a good driving record.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Review transportation schedules and check daily pick-ups with the Transportation Manager.
• Drive clients to and from residences for medical, dental, and mental health appointments.
• Perform clerical outreach tasks and schedule appointments as needed, and perform on-site outreach activities.
• Maintain appropriate logs of vehicle mileage, maintenance, and outreach activities.
• Keep outreach vehicles clean and in working order, coordinating regular maintenance and repairs with the Transportation Manager.
• Maintain regular contact with caseworkers at public housing projects.
• Perform other duties, assignments, and special projects as assigned by the Transportation Manager.
