About The Position

Under the direction and supervision of the WAR Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility (ECF), the Driver will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the ECF Resident while transporting them to and from medical appointments at various hours and days of the week. The Driver will complete all other duties assigned such as mapping daily routes as medical appointments occur, communicating with DON/Designee by telephone any appointment changes/transportation delays and problem-solving any transportation issues. The Driver will also be responsible for making sure that the van is cleaned and in working order after each use, as well as coordinating all regular scheduled maintenance. The Driver will support patient needs, escort patients who are fall risks, act as a member of the interdisciplinary team- communicating information, integrate appropriately with DON/Designee as needed.

  • Must satisfy the requirements for and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must maintain a DOT-equivalent medical examiner’s certificate.
  • Must submit to periodic drug screenings as defined by applicable federal, state, and VH policies and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification by AHA Healthcare Provider is required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the safety and security of ECF Residents during transportation to and from medical appointments.
