About The Position

Under the direction of the Regional Operations Manager, the incumbent will perform a dual role as Repair Technician and Driver. As a Repair Technician, the incumbent will be responsible for repairs, refurbishes and maintains engine driven generators and ensures a safe working environment. As a Driver, the incumbent will be responsible for the safe delivery and pick-up of welding equipment, parts, supplies and accessories to and from our customers. Red-D-Arc is a subsidiary of Airgas, an Air Liquide company, and a leading provider of welding equipment rentals in North America. Red-D-Arc rents, leases and sells welders, welding automation equipment and other welding-related and specialty products, including power generators as well as equipment for heat treating and dry ice blasting. Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to work independently while making decisions based on company policies and objectives.
  • Must be able to proactively and methodically deal with conflicting goals and challenging situations.
  • 2-3+ years of related technical experience.
  • Must have 1 year of driving experience
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Clean driver's abstract is required
  • Attention to detail and solid organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures.
  • Ability to act proactively or find a solution with work-related problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Post secondary education equivalent to a one year Technical College or equivalent is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of power generating and welding equipment, welding application and equipment is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures a safe work environment by following Airgas/Red-D-Arc’s health and safety guidelines.
  • Assembles diesel, gas, and propane equipment for rental.
  • Tests and calibrates machines to see if they are functional for rent or sale.
  • Ensures Equipment meets RDA acceptable standards in appearance and function.
  • Replaces defective parts and completes preventative maintenance required.
  • Orders parts as required in order to complete repairs.
  • Inspects returned equipment for proper operation and/or damage by the customer.
  • Operates a forklift, pallet jack or other necessary equipment to stock required parts in the shop.
  • Ensures a clean and organized work environment at all times.
  • Prepares and completes paperwork for all machine repairs
  • Ensures efficient and safe delivery of customer equipment requirements as per shipping documentation.
  • Prepares accurate shipping documentation, and travel logs including signed copies of all documents, returns, and shortages noted & damage records.
  • Works closely with Branch Coordinator/Branch Manager to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Prepares and tests welding equipment for delivery to customers.
  • Maintains communication with all branch personnel.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
