Driver / Concierge (Nursing Home)
About The Position
The Driver / Concierge position combines concierge, hospitality, and customer service duties with patient transportation at Dover Center for Health & Rehabilitation. Drivers safely transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and other destinations, helping them access the assessment and care needed for rehabilitation and well-being. The role also involves supporting residents as they enter and exit the vehicle, communicating with residents, families, staff, and administrative personnel, and maintaining trip records and vehicle safety. This is a full-time position of 32 hours per week, with the potential for 40 hours. The schedule is Monday through Friday, and hours may flex to meet transportation needs.
Requirements
- Current driver's license and excellent driving record.
- Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Compassion, patience, and empathy when working with seniors.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in patient transportation or a similar role.
- High school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Safely drive residents to medical appointments, outings, and other destinations according to the assigned schedule.
- Follow traffic laws, regulations, and facility policies to protect passengers and others on the road.
- Assist residents into and out of the vehicle.
- Secure passengers’ wheelchairs to vehicle restraints while driving.
- Communicate with residents, families, and staff to coordinate transportation schedules and meet resident needs.
- Communicate regularly with administrative staff to receive instructions or report delays and service disruptions.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and safety, perform routine inspections, refuel, and promptly report maintenance needs.
- Keep records of trips and passenger behavior.
- Perform concierge, hospitality, and customer service duties.
