Dozer Operator

Turner Mining Group•Sylacauga, AL

About The Position

The Dozer Operator works on active mining, exploration, road, earthworks, and related civil works sites. The role converts survey marks and production plans into stable ground by operating a dozer to meet grade, slope, and production requirements while protecting people and equipment. The operator works with supervisors, survey personnel, and truck operators, and reports to the site supervisor or project foreman. Equipment consists of company-assigned dozers with standard blades and available GPS or grade-control support. Fuel, service, and parts are managed through the site maintenance plan. Work follows project schedules and may involve early starts, heat, dust, and remote sites. Rotating or extended shifts are expected.

Requirements

  • Proven dozer operating experience on earthworks, mining, road, or similar production sites; yard-only experience is not sufficient.
  • Ability to read grade stakes, simple plans, and machine-control displays and meet stated tolerances.
  • Current license or certification required to operate the assigned dozer class.
  • Clean site-safety record.
  • Experience or demonstrated habit of performing pre-start checks, basic track and blade care, and clear defect reporting.
  • Willingness to work outdoors on rotating or extended shifts and follow radio and spotter direction.
  • Sufficient Spanish or English to take instructions and report hazards.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to communicate in both Spanish and English.

  • Build and maintain haul roads, ramps, windrows, and working faces for safe travel by trucks and support equipment.
  • Use stakes, GPS or machine-control displays, and supervisor direction to maintain line and level; stop work if marks, ground conditions, or instructions do not match.
  • Complete and document pre-start checks, report defects promptly, and return the machine ready for the next operator.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, survey personnel, and truck operators to place material appropriately and avoid wasting fuel, track life, and blade time.
  • Control water, avoid undercutting, leave sites stable, and shut down cleanly at shift end or in unsafe weather.
  • Follow radio and spotter directions and report hazards.
