About The Position

Emery Sapp & Sons is hiring an experienced Dozer Operator for its Kansas City operations. The role supports heavy civil construction projects, including mass grading, road building, site development, and earthwork. The ideal candidate takes pride in precision work, job site safety, and teamwork.

The operator uses bulldozers (D6–D8 or similar) for grading, site preparation, earthmoving, roadway construction, and embankments. The role involves interpreting grade stakes, cut/fill plans, and project layouts; coordinating with foremen, grade checkers, and other equipment operators; and maintaining project slopes, grades, and elevations to specifications. The operator also performs daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance, follows ESS safety policies and OSHA standards, keeps work areas safe and productive, and assists with other equipment or labor tasks as needed.

The position requires outdoor work in varying weather conditions and travel to project sites as required. Physical demands include sitting for extended periods while operating equipment, climbing on and off equipment multiple times per day, and lifting up to 50 pounds as needed.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience operating dozers in heavy civil construction.
• Strong understanding of grade, slope, and elevation control.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Reliable transportation to Kansas City job sites.
• Strong safety mindset and attention to detail.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
• Ability to climb on and off equipment multiple times per day.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working around GPS or grade control systems.
• Experience with government contracts and compliance.

Responsibilities
