About The Position

Oversees the daily operation of the residential home living program. This role involves developing policies and procedures, participating in hiring processes, ensuring a safe and friendly working environment, and managing student incidents. The Dormitory Manager also assists in planning student activities and ensuring adherence to schedules and assignments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable discipline from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Ability to multitask within time constraints and set high expectations on self and others
  • Ability to communicate (orally/writing) effectively which includes listening and making difficult decisions
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 5 years of residential Life or Home Living related experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop policies and procedures for the home living program.
  • Attend weekly meetings in the Administration Office, making suggestions and relaying information to staff.
  • Participate in the interview team for hiring home living staff.
  • Provide input to supervisors in designing work schedules for dormitory staff.
  • Ensure the working environment is both safe and friendly for employees and students.
  • Report any concerns to the proper authority for changes.
  • Assist dorm supervisors in planning and scheduling activities for appropriate age groups to be put on the JA Calendar.
  • Ensure student incidents are dealt with in a timely manner and consequences are handled fairly and consistently.
  • Schedule bus evacuation drills with the students.
  • Make periodic checks of all home living departments to ensure scheduled activities are being followed.
  • Check to see if employees are following their work schedules and work assignments.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
