About The Position

Fox Valley Overhead Door Company installs and services residential and commercial garage doors throughout the Fox Valley, including Appleton, Oshkosh, Green Bay, De Pere, and Neenah. The company works with Clopay, Cornell, and LiftMaster products.

The Door Technician Apprentice installs and services garage doors, rolling steel doors, and gate operators. The role involves field installation and adjustment of door components, removing existing doors, preparing openings, verifying measurements, completing installations, and explaining door operation to customers. The technician also maintains a stocked truck, accurate paperwork, and a clean job site, and participates in an after-hours on-call rotation for emergency service.

The schedule is 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with overtime available. Pay is $22–$28 per hour depending on experience. The company provides a vehicle, tools, uniforms, insurance coverage, paid time off and holidays, and paid training. Requirements

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience with garage doors, overhead doors, dock equipment, or related mechanical field service; the company will train a candidate with a strong mechanical background.
• Comfort using hand tools and power tools and performing basic electrical troubleshooting.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record; must be insurable under the company's commercial auto policy.
• Ability to read work orders and communicate clearly with homeowners, property managers, and facility contacts.
• Willingness to complete a background check and drug screen.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
• Ability to work from ladders and lifts, in crawl spaces, and at heights; work outdoors year-round in Wisconsin weather; and kneel, bend, reach overhead, and stand for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with high-speed doors, rolling steel, or gate operators.
• Construction experience.
• Experience with LiftMaster, Clopay, or Cornell products.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Welding or fabrication experience.
• Electrical experience.

Responsibilities

• Install residential and commercial garage doors, rolling steel doors, and gate operators.
• Install and adjust openers, springs, cables, rollers, tracks, and hardware in the field.
• Remove and haul away existing doors, prepare openings, and confirm measurements before installation.
• Complete installations independently by reading work orders, setting doors to specifications, and walking customers through operation.
• Keep the company truck stocked, paperwork accurate, and job sites clean.
• Participate in the after-hours on-call rotation for emergency service.
