About The Position

The Donut Finisher helps keep the Bakery case stocked with fresh, attractively finished donuts, bagels, and danishes. The role involves preparing products for finishing, glazing and icing them, adding garnishes, and preparing special orders while providing a welcoming customer experience. The Donut Finisher also prepares the work area and equipment, maintains cleanliness and hygiene standards, and assists customers and other store areas as needed. Training is provided.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Six months or less of similar or related experience.
Follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with attention to detail.
Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
Communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Work effectively as part of a team to support customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
Complete a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers positively.
Prepare the work area and equipment for donut finishing at the start of each shift.
Remove donuts and rolls from the freezer and prepare them for finishing, including placing danishes and cinnamon rolls in the proof box.
Heat donuts and rolls in the oven before glazing or icing, then ice and garnish products for the donut case.
Review special orders and prepare them as needed.
Prepare icings and the glazing area for the following day.
Maintain a clean, organized work area throughout the shift.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards.
Answer customer telephone calls promptly and provide helpful service.
Assist customers at the counter and help in other store areas as needed.
Follow Hy-Vee policies and individual store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
