About The Position

Through continuous innovations in tissue processing technology and surgical devices, advocacy for patient access and simplified payor reimbursement policies, CorneaGen is advancing the next generation of cornea care. In support of this goal, we are looking for a Donor Eligibility Coordinator II to join our team. Under the direction of Donor Eligibility Management, the Donor Eligibility Coordinator II will conduct all tasks related to medical review of donated tissue that enhances and improves lives globally. The incumbent will be expected to steward each donor’s Gift by ensuring standardized operational practices are effectively executed at the local level and by seeking continual improvement opportunities to maximize the value of the Gift.

Requirements

  • Completion of Medical Director Designee (MDD) status for CorneaGen or equivalent education and experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in life science or an equivalent combination of education and highly relevant experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year experience as a Donor Eligibility Coordinator I or equivalent education and experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews all relevant and required donor records to determine donor eligibility for transplant, research and education, or destruction in accordance with the EBAA Medial Standards, FDA applicable regulations and the CorneaGen policies and procedures.
  • To include, but not limited to; Authorization for donated gifts, Donor risk assessment interview, Physical Assessment, Communicable disease testing results, Medical Records, Tissue Suitability Evaluation
  • Reviews donor record information for completion and accuracy, obtains missing information and resolves open items in compliance with CorneaGen policies and procedures.
  • When necessary, professionally communicate with care physicians, nursing staff, funeral home directors, medical examiners, etc.
  • Expected to complete Medical Director Designee annual competency by the Medical Director.
  • Maintains confidentiality of donor related information.
  • Contributes innovative ideas or techniques, which result in better service or improve the quality of work at CorneaGen.
  • Communicates with Distribution / Customer Service regarding tissue status and local needs.
  • When applicable, supports other operations departments in Administrator on Call (AOC) rotation
  • In all daily activities, strives to support the Mission, Vision, and Values of CorneaGen.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, nights, and weekends when needed.
  • Performs other projects and duties as assigned.
