About The Position
Donation attendants serve as Goodwill Ambassadors and assist donors with household goods in an active, dynamic role. The position involves greeting donors, safely unloading and recording donations, sorting donated items, and maintaining a clean donation area. Attendants provide customer service, follow safety and security practices, and may assist with loading or unloading company vehicles. The role includes prolonged physical activity during shifts, including walking, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, and climbing.
Requirements
- Previous customer service experience.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instructions in English for safety purposes and communication with management.
- Ability to communicate verbally with associates and customers effectively.
- Ability to walk, stoop, stand, bend, lift, kneel, and climb continuously for prolonged periods, up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Ability to independently lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- At least six months of previous work experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Previous experience working in a warehouse environment.
- Previous pallet packing and forklift experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Multilingual ability with proficiency in English.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external guests.
- Greet donors and safely unload donations from vehicles, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
- Accurately record donations.
- Safely operate manual or powered equipment, depending on the location.
- Keep the donation area clean and free of debris.
- Complete donor receipts and offer donors a copy.
- Sort donated items into designated categories.
- Follow safety and security practices and report hazards and injuries to the General Manager, Store Manager, or Assistant Manager.
- Maintain a clean, neat uniform and appearance.
- Assist truck and driver helpers with loading and unloading donations into company vehicles.
- Perform general housekeeping duties as needed.
- Perform other duties as directed.
