OUR VALUES HOPE values: Humility, Ownership, Perseverance, Engagement The DV Specialist II is primarily responsible for providing direct services to Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) and Temporary Assistance to Other Needy Families (TANOF) participants experiencing barriers to self-sufficiency as a result of domestic violence. The services provided includes assessment, service planning, and supportive services. The DV Specialist II works with participants to link community services or to provide supportive services to assist participants towards the goal of self-sufficiency (work, school or related activities).

Requirements

  • Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency - general major.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or any relevant behavioral health field.
  • Over two years, up to and including four years of experience.
  • Two years of work experience in domestic violence or related field.
  • Must have the ability to maintain clear professional boundaries while providing compassionate services.
  • Requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
  • This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
  • Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of CPR, CPI and/or van driving training as such training is necessary to ensure ability/continued ability to perform essential functions of this job.
  • Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of CPI classes OR other Behavioral Management certification as may be contract-mandated.
  • Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of First Aid classes.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledgeable and understanding of trauma-informed care and the psychological and emotional effects of trauma and violence is preferred.
  • Previous work experience in domestic violence strongly preferred.
  • Other related experience may be considered (i.e. sex abuse, substance abuse).
  • Organizational skills helpful as position requires ability to maintain detailed case files.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Knowledge in the area of community resources is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct services to TANF and TANOF participants experiencing barriers to self-sufficiency as a result of domestic violence.
  • Conducting assessment, service planning, and providing supportive services.
  • Working with participants to link community services or to provide supportive services to assist participants towards the goal of self-sufficiency (work, school or related activities).
  • Working with and providing direct services to high-risk clients in domestic violence situations.
  • Facilitating groups for survivors of domestic violence.
  • Conducting intakes and assessments.
  • Providing support to victims who have experienced emotional, physical, psychological, or financial abuse.
