Parttime dog handler
About The Position
Join the H.A.L.O. Rescue Family – Now Hiring a Parttime Dog Handler! Do you have a passion for dogs and a heart for rescue work? H.A.L.O. Rescue is looking for a caring, dependable, and motivated Dog Handler to become part of our team! This is a part-time position scheduled for Mondays and Tuesdays, with shifts running either 7:00 AM–4:00 PM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM depending on daily operational needs. Occasional flexibility to help cover additional shifts during staff vacations is greatly appreciated. If you’re looking for meaningful work where you can truly make a difference in the lives of rescue dogs every day, we’d love to hear from you!
Requirements
- A compassionate team player with strong communication skills and a genuine love for animals.
- Someone comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced rescue environment that can occasionally be loud or unpredictable.
- Ability to frequently bend, kneel, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Nice To Haves
- Previous dog handling or animal care experience is preferred, but dedication and willingness to learn are highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Safely handle dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities using calm, positive handling techniques.
- Provide daily exercise, enrichment, and care while following established routines and safety protocols.
- Help potential adopters meet and connect with dogs to support successful adoptions.
- Assist with basic medical care, including administering medications and safely restraining animals when needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and supportive environment for both animals and team members.
