About The Position

Under general supervision, the Documentation Specialist supports Service and Manufacturing operations by creating, maintaining, and releasing controlled documentation for a high‑mix, low‑volume precision instrument manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for developing clear and concise written documentation, collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, service, and quality teams to verify and implement process changes, and executing documentation updates through formal engineering change processes.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in technical documentation, manufacturing, engineering support, or a related field.
  • Experience using standard PC applications (e.g., Microsoft Office) to create, edit, format, and maintain clear and accurate documents.
  • Experience working with structured information or procedures, with attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Experience learning and following defined processes, standards, or instructions in an operational or technical environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience creating or maintaining controlled documentation.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or service processes in a high‑mix or technical environment.
  • Familiarity with document control, engineering change orders (ECOs), or quality systems.
  • Experience working with ERP or document management systems (e.g., SAP) to support documentation, production, or service processes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, revise, and maintain controlled operational documentation, including assembly procedures, work instructions, test procedures, job aids, and related service and manufacturing documents.
  • Support the full documentation lifecycle, including draft development, review coordination, release, revision, and archival of controlled documents.
  • Execute documentation updates through SAP Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and the Document Management System (DMS), including tracking, release, and revision control.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, service, engineering, and quality personnel to gather input, verify processes, and ensure documentation accurately reflects current practices.
  • Maintain quality, consistency, and standardization of new and existing documentation in accordance with company and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
  • Plan and manage daily workload to complete assigned documentation and ECO tasks on schedule and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Support company ISO and QMS requirements related to process documentation, document control, and procedural compliance.
  • Assist with process improvement efforts by enhancing documentation clarity, standardization, and usability within assigned service and manufacturing areas.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and promptly report unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
  • Complete other assignments and special projects as assigned.
