About The Position

The Dockworker sorts and handles freight moving in and out of over-the-road equipment, containers, city trailers, and straight trucks. The role operates forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload freight, secures shipments, and follows applicable regulations and established bill and quality-control procedures. It also includes documenting freight shortages and damage and helping maintain a safe, clean work environment.

Requirements

• Ability to lift and move objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• Warehouse, freight, dock, forklift, or pallet jack experience.
• Forklift certification or hazmat training.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment in compliance with state, federal, and Department of Transportation regulations.
• Use dock tools to secure freight properly, including straps, bars, air bags, cardboard, and dunnage, and maintain those materials.
• Load, recoup, rewrap, and stack freight as needed.
• Read shipment labels and verify shipments, securing freight correctly for loading and unloading.
• Follow established bill and quality-control procedures to support timely, claims-free, and cost-efficient shipments.
• Log, report, and process freight shortages and damages.
• Promote and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
