About The Position

The Dock Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the shipping and receiving team, ensuring the efficient movement of goods in and out of the store. The role includes monitoring inventory, managing deliveries, and upholding company standards for accuracy and efficiency. The supervisor takes a hands-on approach to auditing, quality control, and training to optimize performance, and sets an example for teamwork, safety, and productivity while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The position works in an active warehouse and retail environment, including indoor areas with varying temperatures and outdoor conditions with changing weather. It requires standing and walking for extended periods, frequent lifting and carrying of items up to 50 pounds, and other physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing. A flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, may be required as business needs dictate.

Requirements

At least two years of experience as a supervisor, team lead, or key holder in a shipping, receiving, logistics, or warehouse environment.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Basic mathematical and computer skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to assess and coach team performance.
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Successful completion of a background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on hard surfaces.
Ability to frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to frequently push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach at waist level and overhead.
Ability to climb ladders or approved equipment to heights of up to 14 feet while maintaining balance and following safety procedures.
Ability to perform repetitive movements, including grasping, handling, sorting, and moving merchandise.
Ability to operate material handling equipment as trained and authorized.
Ability to visually inspect merchandise, inventory, labels, and shipping documentation for accuracy and quality.
Ability to communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and donors in an active warehouse and retail environment.
Ability to work indoors in varying temperatures and outdoors in changing weather.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as business needs require.

Ability to operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.

Responsibilities

Direct and supervise shipping and receiving team members.
Oversee inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely and accurate handling.
Maintain inventory tracking systems for deliveries, stock levels, and discrepancies.
Ensure shipment documentation and labeling are accurate and compliant.
Monitor and enforce safety procedures for material handling and equipment use.
Analyze daily stock levels and address shortages or overages.
Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training team members.
Create and maintain team schedules based on operational needs.
Coach team members and provide feedback to improve performance and efficiency.
Maintain organization and cleanliness in receiving and storage areas.
Support loss prevention by following security protocols and company policies.
Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams to streamline shipping and receiving processes.
Assist donors according to company standards.
Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
Support store leadership in implementing sales and marketing programs when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
