About The Position

BAE Systems is hiring a Principal Hardware Engineer to join its Diminishing Material Supply (DMS) Central Engineering Team. The role supports continued production and sustainment of complex microwave modules, submodules, circuit card assemblies, and subsystems used across multiple projects and military platforms. The engineer will address diminishing material supply issues, evaluate component obsolescence and replacements, resolve production design issues, and coordinate engineering work across teams. The position includes technical management of replacement-component assessments and delegation and review of work performed by less experienced engineers and technicians. The role works in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with colleagues from multiple disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 6 years of applicable professional experience.
  • Experience with RF/microwave designs, circuit card assemblies, or other electronic systems.
  • Ability to research and apply engineering principles and theories to solve technical problems, including reverse-engineering applications using circuit schematics and analyzing system and circuit applications involving RF diodes, MOSFETs, ADCs, FPGAs, operational amplifiers, digital logic, signal integrity, switched-mode power supplies, SERDES, optical isolators or relays, and DDR or FLASH memory alternatives.
  • Experience in logic, analog, RF design, FPGA power, and/or part selection.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability.
  • Must be eligible to obtain at least a Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Secret clearance is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in RF/microwave subsystem, module, and circuit design and development.
  • Experience developing Engineering Basis of Estimate for proposed engineering work.
  • Experience in packaging electronics, such as BGAs, SOICs, and die.
  • Experience working with a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with hardware suppliers to resolve DMS issues.
  • Evaluate the electrical engineering impact of part obsolescence and potential replacements.
  • Generate Change Orders to resolve production design issues.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to mitigate DMS impacts to programs.
  • Delegate tasks to less experienced engineers and technicians, monitor and assist with their progress, review their documentation for quality, and provide mentorship as needed.
