About The Position

This is an internal agency opportunity for current DJJ employees only. The position is located in the Detention North Region, Tallahassee, Florida. The starting salary is $2,135.95 Bi-weekly. Responsibilities

  • Manages and provides operational oversight and supervision of staff at the regional office for Detention Services.
  • Responsible for motivating, training, evaluating, planning and directing employee’s work.
  • Incumbent of position supervises employees, spends the majority of time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, planning and directing employee’s work.
  • Develops and implement record management program, following the established record retention rules and assures compliance with departmental policies.
  • Interviews personnel and conducts on-site observations to ascertain unit functions, work performed, method, equipment and personnel used. Identify problems and solutions.
  • Act as the Regional Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) point of contact for all regional detention facilities. Coordinate PREA audits with outside agencies, assist in preparation for audits, and conduct technical assistance to facilities to ensure PREA policies are followed and updated when required, and conducts quarterly inspections at each facility.
  • Act as the Regional Point of Contact for medical and mental health providers for all regional detention facilities. Coordinate and participate in conference calls monthly to assess the providers’ service delivery and review monthly schedules of provider coverage.
  • Design, evaluate, recommend and approve changes based on need and analysis.
  • Act as the Regional point of contact for training. Facilitate communication with Facility Training Coordinators and track upcoming training opportunities. Work with the bureau of Staff Development & Training to ensure training requirements are met Regional wide.
  • Provide technical assistance, consultative services and direction for development, implementation, evaluation and expansion of programs of service in public agencies and local governments.
  • Act as the Regional point of contact for the quality improvement process inclusive of providing all regional detention facilities technical assistance during audits and with corrective action plans.
  • Gather and organize information, plan, and conduct studies for areas of concern. Document findings of study and prepare recommendations of implementation of new systems, procedures or organizational changes.
  • Review contract monitoring reports for the detention centers in the areas of food services, medical and mental health services, and monitors the status for corrective actions, makes recommendations to the regional director for contract sanctions or changes.
  • Review and respond to outcome based corrective action plan (OBCAP) deficiencies entered int eh Program and Monitoring Management (PMM) system and follow-up within the timeframe required.
