About The Position

This position is responsible for monitoring volunteer programs throughout the division, training field-level Volunteer Coordinators, Development Departments, Area Commanders, and Corps Officers on recruiting and training volunteers. It also involves preparing statistics, records, and reports related to these activities. The role provides key managerial support for divisional volunteer programs, assists in developing public informational materials, and confers with field officers regarding the status and performance of volunteer programs. Additionally, the position prepares and updates volunteer packets and policy information to align with Salvation Army and National Volunteer guidelines, and participates in local professional associations to promote networking and skill development in volunteer program management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, business, communications, or related field
  • Two years’ experience recruiting people to perform work on a volunteer basis
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language
  • Valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the volunteer programs throughout the division
  • Trains field level Volunteer Coordinator’s, Development Departments, Area Commanders, and Corps Officers throughout the division on recruiting and training Volunteers
  • Prepares statistics, records and reports regarding the same
  • Oversight of the Golden Volunteer Platform
  • Provides key managerial support for the divisional volunteer programs
  • Provides or assists with developing informational materials for the public
  • Confers with the field officers regarding the status and performance of the volunteer program
  • Prepares records and reports regarding the same
  • Prepares and updates volunteer packets and policy information to coincide with Salvation Army guidelines, and National Volunteer guidelines and procedures
  • Provide field locations with materials including guidelines to better assist them in running and managing their volunteer efforts
  • Participates in local professional associations in order to promote networking and continued development of skills and expertise in the field of volunteer program management
