About The Position

CVS Health District Support Pharmacists travel throughout a district to cover pharmacist scheduling gaps and support pharmacy teams under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and Rx District Leader. They support the management, oversight, and operation of pharmacies where they work, serve as a role model for pharmacy teams, and provide safe, compassionate care to patients. When serving as the only or primary pharmacist on duty, they assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties. The position requires travel within a reasonable radius, flexible scheduling based on business needs, and regular attendance that includes nights and weekends.

Requirements

Active pharmacist license in the state where the store is located.
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Must not be on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing needs.
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
Ability to concentrate, shift quickly between tasks, and confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
Customer service and team orientation, including responding appropriately to patients’ reactions.
Verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and the ability to convey and receive detailed information accurately.
Mathematical reasoning skills, including calculating quantities, days’ supply, and bottle counts for prescriptions.
Problem-resolution skills for challenging patient or colleague interactions.
Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including standing or remaining upright for extended periods, reaching, repetitive finger movements, stooping, close visual work, and lifting or exerting force as described.

Nice To Haves

1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.

Responsibilities

Help manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
Travel within the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator, oversee the pharmacy, and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap.
Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails, and directing the pharmacy team to do the same.
Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist on duty.
Promote positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy and care, coaching the pharmacy team, collaborating with patients’ healthcare teams, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues.
Offer and deliver immunizations and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize.
Support effective pharmacy inventory management and adherence to inventory best practices, with particular attention to protecting cold-chain products.
Remain flexible to meet scheduling and business needs while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team environment.
Maintain clinical and technical skills through required training and continuing medical education, and seek opportunities to expand knowledge.
Support access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical services, such as testing and prescribing where permissible, and empower the pharmacy team to provide holistic care.
Comply with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS Health policies and procedures, including requirements for patient safety, controlled substances, recordkeeping, privacy, security, and workplace safety.
Complete required training within the designated timeframe and perform additional tasks as directed by a supervisor or manager.
