About The Position

As an innovation leader, Gates is looking for ambitious, forward-thinking, open-minded, and well-rounded individuals to join their global team as a District Sales Manager. This role is a remote position based out of the employee's home office, requiring travel within an assigned territory to sell Gates products. The primary responsibility is to sell and promote the Gates Fluid Power and Power Transmission product lines. The territory for this role is British Columbia. Key goals include meeting or exceeding an annual sales quota and achieving specific strategic initiatives aligned with higher-level organizational goals. The role utilizes a consultative selling approach, technical expertise, and relationship-building skills with distributors and end-users. Responsibilities involve researching customer needs, understanding their applications, and applying Gates technologies to improve cost of ownership and productivity. Collaboration with internal Gates teams across various business functions is expected.

Requirements

  • 3 years of progressive sales experience or equivalent industry knowledge
  • High school degree or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Must be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to drive long distances for extended periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • College degree in a business or engineering field is preferred.
  • Experience in selling Fluid Power and/or Power Transmission products is highly preferred
  • Firm understanding of the MRO business is preferred
  • CRM experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing growth strategies for both existing accounts as well as new prospective customers.
  • Accelerating growth of new Gates products and solutions.
  • Pursuing opportunities to expand our business in new markets.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments within our target markets.
  • Making regular sales calls to pursue and discuss opportunities, providing training and other technical support, and increasing overall mind share.
  • Following up on leads (both self-generated and provided through marketing initiatives).
  • Timely and accurate utilization of our CRM systems.
  • Developing and maintaining short, mid, and long-term sales plans.
  • Communicating high value sales activity to contribute to effective product and service planning.
  • Providing top-quality, Gates customer service for all clients and prospects.
  • Monitoring and communicating competitive activities to identify opportunities and/or countermeasures.
  • Manages an area or multiple teams within a plant or corporate function
  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
  • Integrates industry best practices in own area to the achievement of objectives
  • Identifies and resolves moderately complex business problems
  • Decision making involves compiling and organizing information and selecting best option from a range of alternatives, and put forward to Senior Management's approval, wherever necessary.
  • Impacts the level of service and the team’s ability to meet quality, volume and timeliness of objectives
  • Implements, Interprets and executes policies; makes process modifications
  • Guides, influences and persuades others internally and/or externally
