The District Sales Manager executes the strategic business objectives as a multi-unit manager of a defined district in sales management, store operations, merchandising, and profitability. This role involves managing overall sales performance, maximizing transaction closing ratios, and developing in-store strategies to counter competitor efforts. The manager is responsible for driving sales to meet or exceed budget, executing the company’s selling program, and maintaining awareness of competitor activities. They will also resolve customer issues, conduct sales meetings, and manage the overall financial performance of the district, including targeted variable expenses. Development of associates, particularly Senior Store Managers/Store Managers, is a key focus. The role includes managing strategic action plans, approving schedules, ensuring accurate payroll reporting, preparing financial reviews, and managing the clearance center program and pricing. Inventory management, shrinkage control, auditing cash handling, ensuring compliance with laws and policies, and maintaining store appearance standards are also critical. The District Sales Manager oversees new store openings, remodels, and closings, as well as recruitment, interviewing, and hiring. They identify training needs and manage the execution of merchandising plans, ensuring accurate and timely completion of missions, proper pricing strategies, and appropriate display of merchandise and point-of-purchase materials. The role also requires completing required training, following safety policies, communicating professionally, and executing team member performance improvement plans, progressive discipline, and terminations as needed.
