About The Position

The District Manager oversees sales operations within a specific geographic area, leading a team to achieve sales targets and drive revenue growth. BASF/Chemetall, is the Surface Treatment global business unit of BASF’s Coatings division, operating under the Chemetall brand, and a leading supplier of applied surface treatments worldwide. At BASF/Chemetall, we develop and manufacture tailor-made technology and system solutions for applied surface technology. Our products protect metals from corrosion, facilitate forming and treatment, prepare parts optimally for the painting process and ensure excellent coating adhesion. Our technologies and products are used in a variety of industries and end markets such as automotive, aerospace, aluminum finishing and metal forming. The chemical treatment of metal surfaces is BASF/Chemetall core competence. The focus of our worldwide activities is on the development and implementation of customized technology and system solutions for surface treatment.

Requirements

  • BS Degree
  • 3-5 years of sales experience and leadership
  • Industrial Technical Sales experience including pretreatment, surface treatment, and metalworking in the Specialty Chemical Industry.
  • Sales and Business acumen (account & relationship management, value-based selling, etc.)
  • Leadership skills: ability to motivate and develop a sales team
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strategic thinking skills

Responsibilities

  • Executing strategic sales plans to meet district quotas and expand market share within their assigned territory.
  • Leading and managing a team of sales representatives, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
  • Analyzing sales data and market trends to identify new business opportunities and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
  • Conducting regular field visits with sales representatives to observe techniques, offer direct coaching, and support client interactions.
  • Working closely with Key Industry Sales and Marketing to ensure alignment of sales efforts with company goals and provide market feedback.
  • Assigning Sales and Profit targets to align with strategic initiatives.
  • Managing performance, talent development, and talent retention.
  • Developing and maintaining a succession plan for the Sales District.
  • Hiring, training, and coaching Technical Sales Representatives to develop effective sales techniques, technical problem-solving skills, product knowledge, and awareness of customer needs.
  • Managing the pipeline and target accounts to meet growth objectives.
  • Executing strategy of targets as identified as part of the District Strategic Roadmap in collaboration with Regional Marketing and Regional Sales - Industries.
  • Executing global strategies within each Industry Segment key customers.
  • Keeping track of competitors’ offers and actions, building competitive awareness.
  • Providing input for the development of pricing strategies.
  • Responsible for Business reviews completion at top 20 accounts.
  • Developing strong business relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Managing sales and pricing processes to align with the company’s pricing guidelines and marketing pricing strategy.
  • Coordinating and executing sales strategies to develop target business.
  • Preparing Supply Agreements within the given authorization framework.
  • Leading the effort and education for digital processes (Salesforce, Power BI, Power Apps etc).
  • Coordinating with Industry Sales personnel on target account activities.
  • Sharing market insights and trends with Sales Managers, Key Industry Sales management, and Regional Marketing management.
  • Managing AR and Consignment Inventory to assigned goals.
