District Chef Needed for School Food Service
About The Position
We are seeking a District Chef for our school food service program in the Somerset County, NJ area. This is a full-time, day shift position, Monday through Friday, with occasional nights and weekends required for catering events. The role involves overseeing and training cooks across the district, ensuring proper cooking procedures and food presentation, and adhering to school food service guidelines like the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). You will also be responsible for creating menu items, placing monthly food orders, conducting monthly inventory, and maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment. The ability to travel within the school district and obtain proper documentation to work in schools is necessary. Chef testing may be administered.
Requirements
- Culinary experience is required.
- Must be willing to travel within the school district.
- Must be able to obtain the proper documentation to work in schools.
- ServSafe® certification required.
- Must have experience in catering.
- Must have experience in satellite preparation.
Nice To Haves
- K-12 experience a plus.
Responsibilities
