About The Position

The District Application Support Specialist will play a critical role in the district's daily operations, working across a broad range of educational and service departments. This position directly contributes to the modernization, reliability, and long-term success of the systems that support public education. The position reports to the Information Technology Strategist and falls under the Director of Finance and Administration's overall support team.

Requirements

  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Development, or a related field
  • 2–5 years of experience in application development, database design, or systems integration
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered
  • Strong proficiency in MS Teams, SharePoint, MS 360, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Apps and Microsoft Fabric
  • Proficiency in web development technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, .NET, Flash, AJAX)
  • Experience with relational database development and administration (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Knowledge of API development, system integrations, and secure coding practices
  • Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git)
  • Experience with system testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance processes
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with internal client groups and external partners
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, including provincial IT partners
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while maintaining high attention to detail
  • Requires strong attention to detail and sound judgment when assigning district security roles, ensuring accurate access, compliance with protocols, and protection of sensitive information.

Responsibilities

  • Lead website development, enhancements, and ongoing support for a variety of client groups
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective, scalable technical solutions
  • Support system migrations, integrations, and modernization initiatives
  • Support system updates and improvements, development of web applications, online forms, and regularly provide data to various departments
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal client groups to ensure solutions meet operational and strategic needs
  • Work closely with the provincial Information Technology team on joint projects and initiatives to support alignment across systems and ensure seamless integration
