About The Position

The Community School Coordinator - Operations position is a permanent role serving schools within the Fredericton and Oromocto Education Centres. This role reports to the Community Engagement Coordinator-Operations and the Director of Finance and Administration. The primary focus is on monitoring the maintenance and growth of community-based activities through the development of new partnerships and the coordination of local community, municipal, and business involvement with the schools. The position requires flexibility in working hours, potentially including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the district, schools, and community.

Requirements

  • University Degree in a non-technical area, or a two (2) year Community College program supplemented by a minimum of four (4) years of related work experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills-spoken (personable), written, and digitally literate.
  • Ability to identify and catalogue the needs of the school and available community resources in relation to community use of schools.
  • Ability or experience in writing grant proposals
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment with the key state holders and District staff.
  • Hours of work must be flexible, responding to the needs of the district, schools, and community, and may involve some evening and weekend work.
  • Criminal record check will be required as a condition of employment for the successful candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Working with School Principals and the Community Engagement Coordinator to develop long-term strategic plans for local community, municipal, and business involvement with the schools
  • Develop volunteer recruitment strategies to support the schools with their needs
  • Promote, create, and coordinate community partnerships to support school needs
  • Identify the needs of the school and the available community resources
  • Research and apply for grants to support the needs of the schools
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration amongst area schools on educational and curricular programming
  • In cooperation with the District and Principals; acting as the prime liaison between the school and the community

Benefits

  • Salary in accordance with the Public Service Alliance of Canada Union (PSAC), School Business Official 2 based on a minimum of 36.25 hrs/wk.
