About The Position

The Distribution Yard Crewmember handles materials in the yard and warehouse, including receiving, stocking, pulling, loading, and moving products. The role includes operating a forklift, maintaining inventory and the cleanliness of the work areas, cutting lumber and related materials at customer request, and protecting materials from weather damage when required. The position has no supervisory responsibilities and includes successful completion of on-the-job training and company equipment-use certification requirements.

Requirements

Ability to carry out instructions without constant supervision.
Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.
Knowledge of weight distribution and loading patterns.
Ability to adjust machine or vehicle controls quickly and repeatedly to exact positions.
Successfully complete company training and equipment-use certification requirements, including obtaining McCoy’s forklift certification.
Be available and willing to work overtime as the employer determines necessary or desirable to meet business needs.
Successful completion of on-the-job training.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

Load and unload products safely and accurately.
Move, stock, and rearrange building materials in the yard and warehouse.
Perform routine forklift safety checks according to company guidelines.
Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the lumberyard and warehouses, including stacking products squarely and picking up bands, chocks, and trash.
Load merchandise according to required loading patterns and weight distribution to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
Maintain inventory in the assigned area by stocking, facing, straightening, cleaning, and completing other tasks needed to preserve the appearance and integrity of items.
Cover exposed materials when required to prevent weather damage.
Cut lumber and other related materials at customer request.
Operate a forklift.
Attend store meetings and training sessions.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
