About The Position

The Distribution Yard Crewmember performs activities related to receiving, stocking, pulling, loading, and moving materials in yard and warehouse facilities. The role includes safely handling merchandise, maintaining inventory and facility appearance, operating a forklift, and cutting lumber and other related materials as requested by customers. The position is part-time, located at 980 Hwy. 146, Dayton, TX 77535, and starts at $18 per hour. No supervisory responsibilities are listed.

Requirements

Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision.
Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.
Knowledge of weight distribution and loading patterns.
Ability to adjust machine or vehicle controls quickly and repeatedly to exact positions.
Must successfully complete company training and certification requirements for equipment use, including obtaining McCoy’s forklift certification.
Must be available and willing to work overtime per day or week as the employer determines necessary or desirable to meet business needs.
Successful completion of on-the-job training.
Ability to use the three-point hold when getting into trucks and/or forklifts.
Ability to lift up to 80 pounds at times, occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds, and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

Load and unload products safely and accurately.
Move, stock, and rearrange building materials in the yard and warehouse.
Perform routine forklift safety checks according to company guidelines.
Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the lumberyard and warehouses by stacking products squarely and picking up bands, chocks, and trash.
Load merchandise according to loading patterns and weight-distribution requirements to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
Maintain inventory in the assigned area by stocking, facing, straightening, cleaning, and performing other tasks needed to maintain the appearance and integrity of items.
Cover exposed materials when required to prevent weather damage.
Cut lumber and other related materials as requested by customers.
Operate a forklift.
Attend store meetings and training sessions.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
