About The Position

The Distribution Technician works under the supervision of the Food Center/Central Warehouse Manager or Supervisor and is responsible for unloading and loading trucks, cutting and moving stock, and supporting food distribution operations. Decisions are made within established practices, policies, and procedures, with a supervisor available for unusual situations. The technician also provides direction and support to volunteers during volunteer shifts.

Requirements

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, including Outlook.
Ability to interact with others in a professional, polite, and courteous manner.
Strong commitment to civil and human rights.
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
Good knowledge of general warehouse duties.
Knowledge of proper lifting procedures.
Certification to drive a Hi-lo or the ability to attain certification.
Oral and written communication skills.
Ability to manually lift up to 50 pounds.
High school graduation or equivalent training, education, and experience.

Responsibilities

Load and unload freight from semi-trailers and trucks.
Drive a Hi-lo to move stock from storage to the distribution area.
Stock and replenish the distribution area as needed.
Build and stage packed food boxes at pickup areas.
Assist with maintenance of the building and grounds.
Support and direct volunteers on stock replenishment and proper packing and staging procedures.
Assist participants with loading food boxes into vehicles.
Perform related duties as assigned.
