About The Position

The Distribution Operations Manager is responsible for all operational functions within the distribution center, ensuring merchandise moves through the distribution process productively, accurately, and cost-effectively. The role also develops and maintains open communication with internal and external customers and vendors. The manager drives continuous improvement in safety, quality, service, and productivity; oversees staffing and team development; establishes operating procedures; monitors performance; and balances workloads against forecasted volume. The position exercises independent judgment in developing objectives and general policies and procedures for its functional area. Day-to-day decisions do not require direction or review by the immediate supervisor, although end results are reviewed.

Requirements

5 to 8 years of management experience at manager level or higher in a retail production or distribution environment.
Experience leading at least three exempt team members.
Excellent supervisory and communication skills, with strengths in associate engagement.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to motivate and direct a team.
Working knowledge of Manhattan WMS and ability to work with the Super User.
Strong project and time management, organizational, planning, and expediting skills.
Strong PC and internet skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science/Arts degree or an associate degree combined with qualified work experience; a concentration in a technical discipline such as industrial engineering, logistics, or operations management is desired.

Responsibilities

Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement in safety, quality, service, and productivity.
Select, train, develop, and maintain appropriate staff to meet current and future operational goals.
Partner with Human Resources to develop the management team through development planning and performance management programs.
Provide frequent feedback, counsel, and advice to team members.
Hold leadership team members accountable for established goals and responsibilities.
Monitor and track performance across areas of responsibility to meet and exceed goals.
Maintain high quality standards to achieve maximum customer service.
Establish and maintain operational procedures for production departments.
Ensure cross-departmental communication so policies and procedures are understood and operational goals are met.
Balance daily workloads.
Forecast upcoming volume and staff accordingly.
Ensure company policies are followed and administered consistently.
Perform other duties as assigned.
