About The Position

This position is responsible for locating underground utility lines. The role involves using various equipment and instruments to accurately identify and mark Company subsurface structures. The Distribution Line Locator will also perform leak surveys as needed, but their primary function is line locating. The job requires interaction with customers and adherence to company policies and regulations.

Requirements

  • Valid Class “E” Florida Driver’s License and ability to drive Company vehicles.
  • Ability to read street maps and travel to dispatched locations.
  • Proficiency in using mobile telephone, tablet, and/or computer.
  • Ability to write, print, and make clear legible drawings and/or written records.
  • Good physical condition, adequate hearing, eyesight, and sense of smell.
  • Ability to read at a normal comprehensive level.
  • Ability to read distribution drawings, maps, and records.
  • Tact and suitable personality for customer contact.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to identify meters, regulators, tanks, and other aboveground Company facilities.
  • Capability to use all types of equipment and instruments to accurately locate and identify Company subsurface structures.
  • Capability to take basic cathodic protection readings.
  • Willingness to become familiar with Company’s policies, practices and procedures.
  • Willingness to become familiar with Federal, State and Local Rules and Regulations applicable to this position.
  • Ability to pass the HM-126F requirements.
  • Ability to pass all assigned Operator Qualification tests.

Nice To Haves

  • Willingness and ability to obtain certification to render first aid, and artificial resuscitation, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and identify Company subsurface structures using all types of equipment and instruments.
  • Perform leak surveys.
  • Read and interpret distribution drawings, maps, and records.
  • Identify meters, regulators, tanks, and other aboveground Company facilities.
  • Take basic cathodic protection readings.
  • Participate in Company training programs.
  • Obtain certification to render first aid and artificial resuscitation.
  • Maintain clear and legible written records of work operations.
  • Interact with customers tactfully.
  • Become familiar with Company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Become familiar with applicable Federal, State, and Local Rules and Regulations.
