About The Position

This role is responsible for accurately locating and identifying company subsurface structures, performing leak surveys, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The Distribution Line Locator will also be responsible for maintaining clear and legible records of work operations and interacting with customers.

Requirements

  • Valid Class “E” Florida Driver’s License and ability to drive company vehicles.
  • Ability to read street maps and travel to dispatched locations.
  • Proficiency in using mobile telephone, tablet, and/or computer.
  • Capability and willingness to obtain first aid and artificial resuscitation certification.
  • Ability to write, print, and make clear legible drawings and/or written records.
  • Good physical condition, adequate hearing, eyesight, and sense of smell.
  • Ability to read at a normal comprehensive level.
  • Possession of tact and a suitable personality for customer contact.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to identify meters, regulators, tanks, and other aboveground company facilities.
  • Ability to use all types of equipment and instruments to accurately locate and identify company subsurface structures.
  • Ability to take basic cathodic protection readings.
  • Willingness to become familiar with company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Willingness to become familiar with Federal, State, and Local Rules and Regulations applicable to this position.
  • Ability to pass the HM-126F requirements.
  • Ability to pass all assigned Operator Qualification tests.
  • Ability to perform leak surveys.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately locate and identify company subsurface structures using all types of equipment and instruments.
  • Perform leak surveys.
  • Read and interpret distribution drawings, maps, and records.
  • Identify meters, regulators, tanks, and other aboveground company facilities.
  • Take basic cathodic protection readings.
  • Maintain clear and legible written records of work operations.
  • Interact with customers with tact and a suitable personality.
  • Participate in company training programs.
  • Obtain certification to render first aid and artificial resuscitation.
  • Become familiar with company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Become familiar with applicable Federal, State, and Local Rules and Regulations.
  • Pass HM-126F requirements and all assigned Operator Qualification tests.
