About The Position

The Utility Line Locator identifies, locates, and accurately marks the location of City of Edmond utilities. They'll primarily locate and mark existing city-owned underground, fiber, electric primary, secondary, and service lines. Must be able to work in all types of terrain and weather conditions. Some callback duties required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 6 months of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools for locating underground utilities
  • Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
  • Ability and willingness to work in all types of terrain, environments, and weather conditions
  • Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug, physical, and audio screenings

Responsibilities

  • Organize daily locate assignments into an effective route
  • Interpret signals/output from equipment to locate underground electric lines
  • Prepare various reports, forms, and records
  • Read and understand utility maps, prints, and aerial imagery
  • Mark the location of underground electric lines
  • Conduct research and analyze data regarding excavation locations, construction prints, plat pages, and plans
  • Run ground wires, place ground rods, and remove/replace marker signs
  • Remove and replace manhole lids using a manhole cover removal tool
