About The Position

Supports the Distribution department by providing work floor direction and acting as a process and mechanical expert for the area. This role involves giving work direction, troubleshooting technical and quality issues, assisting with material handling, and training other employees. The Distribution Lead also plays a role in production planning, inventory management, safety, housekeeping, preventive maintenance, and technical assistance for new processes.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, G.E.D. certificate or recognized equivalent.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in the English language sufficient enough to communicate effectively, comprehend process instructions, and record pertinent process information.
  • Has a fork truck license (current or in past).
  • Must be able to learn to drive all types of forklifts safely within 30 days.
  • Must be able to learn Shipping software within 90 days.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Good work ethic.
  • Ability to demonstrate training ability.
  • Self-starting.
  • Ability to work effectively on assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • No documented disciplinary action at the warning level or above within the last 12 months.
  • A good attendance and safety record is required.

Responsibilities

  • Gives work direction on the floor.
  • Acts as a process and mechanical expert for the area.
  • Learns and teaches all processes in the department.
  • Monitors process flow.
  • Performs material handling and assists with processes as needed.
  • Troubleshoots technical problems and product quality issues.
  • Serves as backup for distribution coordinators.
  • Trains distribution coordinators and assists in other training.
  • Performs tasks necessary to keep the department running productively.
  • Verifies and maintains physical inventories and ERP inventory systems.
  • Performs daily order checks and manages supplies.
  • Communicates with departments on adequate flow of materials and product to meet customer demand.
  • Addresses unsafe work practices and monitors cleanups.
  • Helps develop preventive maintenance plans.
  • Conducts safety checks for forklifts, energetic safety, and transportation equipment.
  • Monitors and helps develop department and company training and other materials.
  • Ensures new employees are properly trained.
  • Follows up on any changes to Standard Works and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Serves on technical problem-solving task forces as assigned.
  • Is involved in new processes going into the department.
  • Monitors hold or special process product.
  • Serves as a reference for quality issues.
  • Acts as backup for production reporting and payroll (without approval capability).
  • Acts as backup for on the road transport of product between buildings.
  • Assists in moving trailers from docks and other locations around the facility.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
