Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing entry level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. This role involves responding to and investigating power quality issues for customers, providing support to other districts, traveling to customer locations to discuss issues and set monitoring equipment, and collaborating with team members to close out requests. The position also supports the development of conceptual and detailed scopes for the I&M 5-year work plan, analyzes system performance, collaborates with other departments to incorporate smart grid functionality, develops scopes for transmission rebuilds and new build projects, creates and maintains program files for system devices, and supports emerging projects focused on new technology. The role requires entry-level knowledge and experience in applying theory to solve well-defined problems with guidance, coordinating work activities, inputting into project planning, monitoring project status, preparing cost estimates, and using initiative in problem-solving and presenting new ideas. Effective communication, both verbal and written, and strong interpersonal skills are essential, as is a focus on customer service and the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical team members. Regular local travel is required.
