About The Position

Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing entry level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. This role involves responding to and investigating power quality issues for customers, providing support to other districts, traveling to customer locations to discuss issues and set monitoring equipment, and collaborating with team members to close out requests. The position also supports the development of conceptual and detailed scopes for a 5-year work plan, analyzes system performance, collaborates with other departments to incorporate smart grid functionality, develops scopes for transmission rebuilds and new builds, creates and maintains program files for system devices, and supports emerging projects focused on new technology.

Requirements

  • Entry-level knowledge and experience in the application of theory to solve well-defined problems or provide analysis, with guidance from higher-level engineers.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET (for Engineer Associate SG6).
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology in a program accredited by ABET (for Engineering Technologist SG6).
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET along with two or more years of related engineering experience (for Engineer SG7).
  • Master's degree in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET (for Engineer SG7).
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology in a program accredited by ABET (for Engineering Technologist SG7).
  • Two or more years of related experience in work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering technology principles (for Engineering Technologist SG7).

Nice To Haves

  • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.
  • Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology can satisfy this degree requirement, if they obtain a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • A degree in engineering technology is the preferred degree; however, engineering degrees will also be considered (for Engineering Technologist SG6).
  • Acceptable alternative: Bachelor's degree in engineering technology (non-ABET) plus a master’s degree or PhD in engineering technology from a university with an ABET accredited bachelor’s program (for Engineering Technologist SG6).
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a master’s degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited bachelor’s program (for Engineer SG7).
  • A degree in engineering technology is the preferred degree; however, engineering degrees will also be considered (for Engineering Technologist SG7).

Responsibilities
